💖 LOVE YOUR PET DAY 💖

Our pets often become integral parts of our family, providing comfort, laughter, and emotional support.  The bond between pets and their humans is one of the strongest to exist on this planet.

This day is also an opportunity to raise awareness about responsible pet ownership, including the importance of proper nutrition, and providing a safe, loving environment for pets.

History of National Love Your Pet Day

While it is unclear who created National Love Your Pet Day, or when, there are some records of this day being celebrated since the early 2000s.

However, one thing we do know: humans have had pets for thousands of years! The bond between humans and domesticated animals has always been a strong one, and in ancient times some pets were even buried alongside their owners. It is possible that the first animal to live with humans was the wolf, so it is no wonder that dogs are considered to be men's friends.

How to Celebrate Love Your Pet Day with your dog

Make sure your dog has a happy National Love Your Pet Day by doing all of their favourite things!  Here are just some ideas:

  • Most dogs are happy just getting any attention, so don't forget to cuddle and play with them a lot today.
  • Go on an extra long walk.  If your dog enjoys being outside, take them somewhere new like the beach or a big park, and let them explore the world, making sure you allow them extra sniffing time!
  • The way to most dog’s hearts is through their stomach, so get your dog their favourite, most delicious treat, or better still, a raw meaty bone that they can really get their teeth in to.
  • Play their favourite game or bring out their favourite toy.
  • Inspect their toys to make sure they're in good shape. Throw out any broken toys.
  • Wash their bedding and then let them fluff it up just the way they like it.
  • Pamper your dog with a grooming session, whether it’s a bath, brushing, or nail trimming to keep them feeling fresh and loved.
  • Make sure that the freezer is stocked up with their favourite flavours of Basil’s premium raw dog food, ready for their next meal.  You could also put in an order of our new Superfood, with added super ingredients to boost your dog’s wellbeing.  Follow this link for more information on the benefits of this range.
